At Valmet, we design and deliver advanced technologies for sustainable production - spanning mechanical pulping, fiberboard, and biomass-based solutions for global customers. We’re now looking for a Product Development Engineer to join our Sundsvall team and help us develop cutting-edge machinery and processes.

About the position

In this role, you will collaborate closely with R&D, Sales, Delivery Projects, and Production, contributing to both product development and the continuous improvement of our workflows. As part of our product management team of 10 engineers, you will play a key role in the development and lifecycle management of our screening products, ensuring high standards of performance, safety, and quality in a technically advanced environment. The position combines product development, product specialist responsibilities, technical support, and complex troubleshooting, while offering extensive global collaboration.

You’ll have the chance to

• Design and develop advanced process machinery.
• Participate in exciting R&D projects to strengthen our competitiveness.
• Work with our products’ performance, safety, and quality as part of the product management team.
• Influence Valmet’s success while growing your own expertise.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in machine design and product development roles
• Ability to find solutions even when all facts are not known
• Technical interest and curiosity and motivation to develop it further
• Engaged team player with a strong drive to reach goals both as a team and as an individual
• Proactively identifies opportunities and drives continuous improvement
• Ability to prioritize tasks and deliver results in a dynamic environment
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Customer and business oriented
• Skills in modern 3D CAD and PDM tools
• Fluency in Swedish and English.
