We are now looking for an experienced Technical Director to lead, develop and strengthen ALTEN’s engineering organization in Sweden. In this role, you will set the strategic direction for the technical department, ensure profitable project delivery and support our customers and teams in building world-class engineering solutions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Technical Director, you will be responsible for the overall structure, strategy and performance of the engineering department. You will define and improve our service portfolio, drive operational excellence and ensure that our ways of working align with ALTEN’s international standards.

You will play a key role in business development, supporting our Business Managers in pre-sales activities, bid preparation and commercial reviews. Your decisions will impact both technical execution and financial results, and you will be the main point of contact for customers’ technical leadership.

You will also lead and develop the people who shape our delivery. This includes hiring, coaching and supporting leaders and project managers, building career paths and ensuring long-term growth and competence development within the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and optimize the organization to meet commercial targets and future growth
• Review and improve our service portfolio and value proposition
• Strengthen delivery processes within project management, planning, quality and follow-up
• Support Business Managers with technical insight during pre-sales and bid reviews
• Ensure profitability, budget control and decision-making in complex projects
• Build strong relationships with customer technical stakeholders and secure client satisfaction
• Lead recruitment, coaching and development of leaders and project managers
• Drive continuous improvement and change initiatives across the engineering function

YOUR EXPERIENCE

To succeed in this role, you bring strong leadership capabilities, financial understanding and technical expertise built through senior experience in project-driven environments.

We believe you have:

• At least 15 years of experience in large-scale project management
• Experience from several industrial sectors, preferably Automotive, Aerospace & Defense, Railway or Energy
• A strong background in pre-sales, technical offers and cost estimation for tenders
• Proven experience in coaching and leading managers or project leaders
• Experience in customer meetings and technical proposal defense is an advantage
