What will you be doing?

As an Innovation Manager, you will spearhead the innovation process from concept to the establishment of new services and ventures, as well as facilitate the integration of external innovations into Volvo Group solutions. Our focus is on fostering innovation through strategic partnerships, which means your role will also involve assessing our needs, challenges, and opportunities within the innovation ecosystem. You will scout for compatible companies and lead a cross-functional team to initiate collaboration projects with innovative enterprises. 

Key Responsibilities

• Finding the next horizon of sustainable growth for the Volvo Group
• Identifying opportunities for innovation that can improve our products and our customers’ operation, and thereby create new business for the Volvo Group
• Keep track on new technologies & business models, start-ups and competitor movements related to Volvo Group business and communicate the insights
• Capture unmet needs, challenges and opportunities by working with Product Owners, Business owners and strategic functions at Volvo
• Scout & identify best fit companies to co-develop or evaluate solutions to meet the needs   
• Establish and lead a cross functional team to start innovation projects
• Guide innovation projects with a “Investor-mindset” and support scaling of selected initiatives
• Actively contribute to the success and the development of the CampX by VG concept
• Represent the VG as a trusted partner and thought leader towards the external innovation ecosystem
• Be an ambassador for the VG values, leadership and expertise.

Who are you?

We believe you should have proven experience from:

• Working globally in product and business development
• Methods such as business model canvas, design thinking, and lean start-up methodology
• The transport industry and customer domains related to the Volvo Group’s business areas
• Driving innovation from idea to commercialization
• Working in cross functional teams, global organizations and in partnerships
• Proactively identifying, packaging, and communicating new business opportunities
• Working with start-ups, incubators or having started your own company

We expect at least four years of experience in a similar role.

You should possess a strong “can-do” mentality, an open mindset, and a passion for delivering value to our customers and society at large. An entrepreneurial spirit and drive, along with humility, integrity, and creativity, are key traits we seek. You should be comfortable networking, communicating, and presenting. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, multicultural, and diverse environment. 

A master’s degree or equivalent is required as the foundation of your career, and fluency in English is essential. International business experience will be considered a merit.
