IKEA is on a transformation journey with the aim of combining our home furnishing knowledge with digital capabilities. The focus in our digitalization of product content is to enable effective planning, creation and distribution of impactful content across all channels and markets, all while enabling collaboration with partners and external parties across the globe.

To enable our transformation, we’re on the lookout for Software Engineers that understand the software development principles, have the programming language skills, and can implement digital solutions that will realize this journey of Omnichannel content. As a Software Engineering Leader, you will

• Oversee production workflows, managing resources and balancing workloads to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
• Collaborate with architecture teams to ensure platforms and products are scalable, modular, and technically aligned with IKEA’s strategies.
• Maintain and enforce quality standards across all engineering disciplines and ensure technical excellence.
• Promote best practices in both engineering and production workflows, driving innovation in technology and processes.
• Guide teams with extensive knowledge of IKEA’s business model to improve information flow and ensure alignment with technical goals.
• Lead onboarding and skill development for new engineers and team members, supporting the building of a future-ready team.
• Advocate for security and engineering best practices across the organization.
• Explore and implement new technologies to enhance system performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Set strategic engineering priorities, co-create technical roadmaps, and optimize the delivery of products.
• Represent IKEA’s technology both internally and externally in the broader market.

To be successful in this role, we expect you have

• Proven experience in a senior or lead software engineering role.
• Expertise in software development and a deep understanding of architecture, system design, and development pipelines.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), containerization tools (e.g., Docker), and development frameworks.
• Familiarity with technologies such as Terraform, OpenAPI, JavaScript frameworks, and C++. Openness to learning these tools is key.
• A DevOps mindset to ensure the smooth operation of business-critical applications.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working with Agile development teams.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, manage expectations, and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication, time management, and presentation skills.
• Fluency in English for effective global communication.

Additional Information

This role is full-time (40 hours per week) and based in Malmö, Sweden.
