1.1 Position Overview

A junior-level position responsible for supporting process design, project engineering, and technical coordination in water treatment and chemical processing facilities. The role involves assisting in the development of process designs, troubleshooting, and contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and equipment.

1.2 Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Process Engineer and may provide guidance to Process Engineering Interns and Operators/Technicians.

1.3 Required qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

•

BSc (chemical) or BEng (chemical)

•

Minimum 1 year of process engineering experience

•

Knowledge of chemical plant and equipment design, fabrication, testing, installation, and commissioning

•

Experience in the water and wastewater industry is an added advantage

•

Driver’s license (minimum requirement)

1.5 Key responsibilities

1.5.1 Technical Support

This role demands comprehensive technical documentation and design capabilities:

•

Assist in the sizing and design of major process equipment

•

Generate technical specifications for vendor packages

•

Support the development of process documentation, including Process Descriptions, Control Philosophy, P&IDs, and Equipment Datasheets

•

Contribute to commissioning efforts during project execution, including process punching, dry commissioning, wet commissioning, and hot commissioning under the guidance of a Senior Process Engineer

•

Manage procurement efforts for major process equipment

1.5.2 Data Analysis & Troubleshooting

•

Conduct process/product failure investigations, data analysis, and prepare reports

•

Implement corrective actions based on data analysis

•

Analyze process data using simulation software to identify bottlenecks and provide optimization recommendations

•

Troubleshoot manufacturing processes and develop systems to increase efficiency

1.5.3 Continuous Improvement

•

Keep abreast of developments in the process engineering field

•

Suggest ways to improve efficiency, costs, and service in project execution

•

Contribute to the continuous improvement of subordinates and self

•

Support knowledge transfer initiatives and training of junior staff

1.5.4 Facility & Equipment Management

•

Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot process equipment to meet production specifications

•

Develop specifications and procure instruments, controls, and other process equipment for water treatment plants

•

Author process specifications for major process equipment
