WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

We’re building intelligent, intuitive features that make discovering the perfect book feel like magic. That means scaling:

🤖AI librarian, our multi-agentic book recommender with chat interface

📚 Content-based recommendations that understand who you are and what you love

🔍 Semantic search, powered by language models and vector retrieval

To bring these to life, we need someone who writes clean, production-ready Python, loves experimenting with real-world data, and wants to see their work impact millions of readers. This isn’t just about training models - it’s about designing systems that deliver them reliably, efficiently, and at scale.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

🟢 Ship ML-powered features to production with real user impact

🟢 Build and optimize end-to-end ML pipelines for training, serving, and inference

🟢 Develop recommendation models using book metadata, embeddings, and behavioral signals

🟢 Contribute to our AI librarian's brain —integrating ranking, retrieval, and personalization

🟢 Work closely with engineers, product, and data scientists in a tight feedback loop

🟢 Integrate models into low-latency APIs and monitor their performance

🟢 Ensure systems are robust, scalable, and tested - not just clever in theory

Languages: Python, SQL

Cloud & MLOps: GCP (Vertex AI, BigQuery), Vertex AI Pipelines

Search & Retrieval: Vertex AI Search, Matching Engine

Infra & Observability: Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GCP Monitoring

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

🟣 3+ years of experience as an ML or Software Engineer working on ML systems

🟣 Strong Python skills - your code is clean, maintainable, and production-ready

🟣 Experience deploying models in real-world environments (not just notebooks)

🟣 Hands-on experience with end-to-end ML pipelines (training, evaluation, serving)

🟣 Experience with version control, testing, and CI/CD for ML models

🟣 Understanding of model evaluation, A/B testing, and performance metrics

🟣 Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

🟣 Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams

🟣 Understanding of ML pipelines, APIs, and model serving at scale

🟣 Familiarity with cloud-native tooling (bonus for GCP + Vertex AI)

🟣 You’re collaborative, pragmatic, and care about impact more than ego

BONUS IF YOU HAVE 🌟

Experience building and shipping recommendation systems (collaborative filtering or content-based), semantic search, or chat interfaces

Passionate about personalization, conversational UX, or storytelling

Hands-on experience with natural language processing (NLU and NLG), LLMs and RAG

Familiarity with GCP services, especially Vertex AI, BigQuery, and Cloud Storage

You actually enjoy reading (not required, but you’ll fit right in)

Hands-on experience with (multi-)agent systems)

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND IMPORTANT DETAILS

At Nextory, we believe a strong and inclusive culture is key to our success - and that culture flourishes when we meet and collaborate in person as much as possible. That’s why we spend the majority of the working time at our beautiful office!

We are based in Stockholm, Sweden, with offices in Paris and Bangalore. Our hybrid work policy includes four days in the office and Wednesdays as a work-from-home day.

Please note that we do not offer relocation and that a six-month probationary period applies.
