Cost Controller

As a Cost Controller at COWI, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial aspects of EPCM projects to ensure costs are controlled, budgets are adhered to, and financial risks are minimized. Your role will involve tracking, analyzing, and reporting project expenditures, ensuring alignment with project budgets, and supporting the project team in delivering cost-effective outcomes. You will play a vital part in maintaining financial transparency and facilitating informed decision-making within complex engineering, procurement, and construction management projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Budget Management: Monitor and control project budgets to ensure all expenditures align with approved Total Installed Cost (TIC) plans.
  • Cost Tracking and Analysis: Track project costs across labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors; analyze variances between actual and planned costs.
  • Cost Forecasting: Prepare accurate forecasts to predict future expenditures and identify potential overruns or savings.
  • Financial Reporting: Develop and maintain regular cost reports, including cost-to-complete analyses, earned value reports, and variance reports for project stakeholders.
  • Change Order Management: Assess the financial impact of scope changes, change orders, and contract amendments, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
  • Invoice Verification: Review and validate contractor and supplier invoices for accuracy and contract compliance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate cost data and project alignment.
  • System Utilization: Utilize financial and project management tools such as SAP and Excel to effectively track, analyze, and report costs.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 3–5 years in cost control or financial management, preferably within EPCM, construction, or engineering projects.
  • Experience with large-scale, complex projects in industries such as oil & gas, mining, infrastructure, or energy is highly advantageous.
  • Certifications (preferred):
  • Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or equivalent from AACE International.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent is a plus.
