Your role

At Saab, we are committed to harnessing our intellectual property (IP) assets to foster innovation and sustain our competitive advantage. We are currently seeking an Patent coordinator to champion our innovation culture, oversee daily coordination and communication and strategic IP initiatives. In essence, this role is pivotal in keeping our efforts focused and aligned with our strategic ambitions.

Key Responsibilities:

Promote Innovation Culture: Foster a culture of innovation within Saab by encouraging and supporting employees in identifying and protecting innovative ideas. Collaborate with our Innovation Lead to streamline the disclosure process and keep the documentation relevant in our management system.

Coach Engineers Through the Patent Process: Provide engineers with guidance and support throughout the invention disclosure process together with our patent bureau. Inform employees about the potential impact of their inventions on the company and the market. Highlight the opportunities and benefits of patenting, including potential remuneration and recognition. Make the patent process accessible and straightforward, reducing barriers to participation.

Lead the Patent Council within Surveillance: Serve as the chair of the Patent Council within the Surveillance Business Area. Act as the primary point of contact for our patent bureau, handling daily actions and ensuring efficient communication. Facilitate regular meetings and discussions to address patent-related issues and opportunities.

Participate in Patent Strategy Efforts: Collaborate with Strategy and Business Units within Surveillance to align with patent strategies and ensure consistency across the organization. Contribute to the development and implementation of patent strategies that support Saab's business objectives. Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in IP management.

Your profile

We are looking for a structured and organized individual with experience and interest in patents and patent processes. You are enthusiastic, innovative, and committed individual dedicated to fostering a culture of creativity and protection. You have excellent communication skills and a high level of engagement. Coordination and collaboration between all our Business Units are central. Working with strategies and being able to communicate this to our employees is key. You don´t need to be an expert in all our areas but should have a generally strong technical background.

We value the following traits and experience:

A degree in Engineering, Intellectual Property Law, or a related field.

Proven experience in IP asset management, patent strategy, or a similar role.

Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to lead and influence others.

Deep understanding of the patent process, IP law, and industry trends is a plus.

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
