The New Business Access Control Solutions team at Axis are now looking for a Mechanical Designer to join us at our HQ in Lund, Sweden.

Who is your future team?

We are a team of 11 positive, forward-thinking individuals who highly value teamwork and each other. Our team comprises both Mechanics and Electronics engineers, working cross-functionally and collaborating with various departments daily. We are responsible for one of the three product areas at New Business, specifically Access Control.

Our team is a blend of highly experienced designers and recent graduates, as we believe great ideas can come from anyone, anywhere, at any time. We foster an open environment where each team member takes the time to help colleagues and share knowledge-something you'll notice when you join us!

At New Business Access Control Solutions, we look ahead, creating innovative products and system solutions to broaden Axis's total offering. Our focus is on smart professional solutions in the area of Access Control Systems, developing products like Door Controllers, Card Readers, and related accessories. These exciting products have won the hearts of our customers and even design competitions like the Red Dot design Award!

What does a Mechanics designer do at the New Business Access Control Solutions department?

As a mechanical designer, you'll play a broad role, participating from the initial product idea to the global launch. Your responsibilities will include detailed mechanical design, feasibility studies, concept development, manufacturability, testing and verification, and support in volume production and certifications.

Since product development is carried out in cross-functional project teams, you'll collaborate closely with product owners, project managers, electronics engineers, industrial designers, UX specialists, sourcing, software developers, design for manufacturing, design for testing, quality assurance, and technical writers.

You'll encounter various technologies and challenges, such as:

• Die casting
• Injection molding
• Sheet metal
• Electronics packaging
• RF/antennas
• Heat management
• User interaction methods and technologies
• Ease of use and installation
• Vandal, dust & water resistance

Our products adhere to the highest quality and performance standards, because of the harsh environment they are subjected to. Therefore, you'll also design for vandal resistance, water and dust ingress protection, and corrosion prevention.

As many of our products are new to us or the market, you'll have ample opportunity to utilize your creative side. To further foster innovation, we dedicate 10% of our working time to "Free Fridays," where each employee can use this time for learning, developing personal ideas, and general innovation.

Who are you?

You are a passionate product developer with a genuine interest in technology. You have at least 5 years of relevant experience in this field, with a university degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent. You master 3D modeling and mechanical design for both plastics and metal. You are used to developing complete products, from idea to volume production. You are familiar with working in teams where you take a leading role. Having experience in consumer electronics development is a significant asset.
