Gemkom Engineering and Machinery Filial is a newly established branch of the Turkish company Gemkom. It is a leading engineering and manufacturing company that operates in a number of areas and in various ways within the steel industry.

We are participating in a project where Stegra AB establishes a steel mill in Norra Svartbyn in Boden where steel will be produced through an almost fossil-free process using hydrogen gas. Our mission is, among other things, to install machines used in steel production and includes work in mechanics, electronics and plumbing.

We now want to employ a Piping Engineer. The work tasks may include but are not limited to:

Job Description

• Review piping drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, and material specifications to ensure alignment with project requirements.
• Supervise piping fabrication activities including cutting, fit-up, welding, and assembly, ensuring compliance with ASME and EN standards. Maintain traceability of materials, weld maps, and ensure compliance with project standards.
• Oversee field erection and installation of piping systems, including proper support, alignment, and orientation.
• Implement field adjustments and resolve technical site issues in coordination with engineering.
• Coordinate with rigging, lifting, and scaffolding teams for safe erection.
• Manage insulation works for hot, cold, and cryogenic pipelines, ensuring material compatibility and adherence to specifications.
• Coordinate hydrostatic and pneumatic testing activities, including line checking, test pack preparation, and test execution.
• Ensure that all piping works comply with relevant codes such as ASME B31.1 / B31.3, EN 13480, API, and client specifications.
• Interface with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, mechanical, E&I) to resolve technical and construction issues.
• Maintain quality documentation, material traceability, inspection records, and test reports.
• Track project progress and ensure timely completion of milestones.
• Ensure adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations on site.

Desirable qualifications (not mandatory)

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in piping fabrication, erection, installation, testing and insulation in piping construction across oil & gas, refinery, fertilizer, power plant, or iron steel plant projects.
• Strong knowledge of international piping codes and standards (ASME, EN, API).
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and manage site activities independently.
• Familiar with QA/QC procedures, welding inspection, and NDT processes.
• Previous experience on large-scale EPC Construction projects.
• Knowledge of project documentation tools (e.g., OMEGA, Navisworks, AutoCAD etc.).
• HSE awareness and commitment to safe work practices.
